Sacred Event Ready Guidelines

Something special on the horizon?

April 5th marks the 100-day count down to the Thoroughbred Racing season begins in Saratoga Springs. The iconic city boasting traditions of “Health, History, Horses” will transform from a locals’ sanctuary to a gathering location for many from all over the world to see some of the best athletes compete at one of the most prestigious meetings of the year. In addition, the Saratoga Social Scene takes flight with Galas, Fundraisers, Golf Outings, the Infamous Auction at Fasig Tipton and more; what does this mean for you?

It is generally recommended to begin prepping your skin at least 3-4 months in advance of a big event, such as a vacation or a photo shoot. But if you’re the one getting married, the bride should start on a dedicated skin care routine anywhere from 6 months to a year in advance!

This allows time for your skin to adjust to any new products or treatments and for any potential breakouts to clear up! However, it's never too late to start a good skincare routine, so start as soon as you can and be consistent!

Let’s take a look at a possible timeline:

  • 6-12 months before: Consult an aesthetician or dermatologist to address any major skin concerns, establish a regular skincare routine, and consider professional treatments like chemical peels or HydraFacial or even an IPL facial.

  • 3-6 months before: Begin a consistent at-home skincare regimen, including cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and using targeted products like a serum for your skin concerns (such as acne, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines).

  • 1-3 months before: Schedule any final professional treatments (such as facials or laser resurfacing) and consider adding in a weekly at-home facial or mask to boost your skin's radiance.

  • 1 week before: Avoid introducing any new skincare products or treatments and focus on gentle cleansing and moisturizing to avoid irritation or breakouts. Get plenty of rest and hydration to help your skin.

You do not have to stop at just the face for your big day prep, there are a variety of med spa treatments that can help you look and feel your best for your special day! Some popular options include laser hair removal, and body contouring treatments.

Body contouring such as TruSculpt – (a treatment that heats up and melts away stubborn body fat in a concentrated area.) These results can vary depending on individual goals and starting point. However, most people tend to see visible changes after 6-12 weeks with an added consistent exercise routine and eating healthy. For more significant changes, it may take several months of dedication with a fitness routine and proper nutrition. With this in mind, you should start prepping your body routine anywhere from 6 months + for optimal results! Remember to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise or diet regimen.

Laser removal is another med spa service to consider and if your ideal goal is to be hair free by the day of your event, it is best to start at least one year in advance. This service is the one that you would typically start the earliest, as it it’s a service that takes the most time! Typically, you would come into the spa for your first session and wait a few weeks before beginning your second. Laser hair removal sessions can range from 4 – 8 weeks between treatments (depending on the area) and it can take six or more treatments to see the greatest reduction of hair! Ideally as soon as you have your date set for you big event, you should call and book a med spa consultation to see if you are a good candid for a med spa service!

Now that we cover the basic timelines to get ready and prepped for your big day, whatever the occasion might be, it is important to reach out and book a consult with a licensed professional to determine which treatments are best for your individual needs!
